USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance

For the last three years, I’ve worked as the Communications Intern at the USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance. In this position, my expertise has been channeled into the school’s internal news to target prospective students, professors and donors. I pitch story ideas; interview students, faculty and staff; edit copy; and format each story as a post with SEO on the school’s WordPress site. Take a look below for some of my favorite works that highlight the achievements of USC Kaufman students and alumni.

  • Sidney Ramsey to graduate with first double major

Students at the USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance enjoy the unique experience of a dance conservatory within a larger university. Sidney Ramsey (BFA ‘21) used her positioning at USC Kaufman to accomplish a unique feat in this setting. She graduates this spring as the first student with a double major in Dance at USC Kaufman alongside Health and Human Sciences at the USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences. Additionally, she completed a minor in Psychology to round out her academic interests outside of dance while at USC.

  • RYBG: USC Kaufman alumni launch production company

USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance alumni Adam Agostino and Justin Epstein (BFA ‘19) launched their production company, RYBG, in the spring of 2020. The pair had already been collaborating as part of the media crew for USC Kaufman’s Dance Operations. They saw RYBG as a natural progression of this work. After the pandemic hit, they brought on fellow alum, Noah Guthier (BFA ‘19), to round out their multifaceted company.

  • Gender inclusivity in dance with Zackery Torres

Gender is a complex topic that is constantly evolving. In response, Zackery Torres (BFA ‘21) set out to tackle some of its intricacies in their new book An Evolving Conversation on Gender: Dance Edition. The book seeks to break down the complexities of gender and provides the necessary information to start new conversations in various dance communities.

  • Musical theatre students produce short dance films

The BFA in Musical Theatre from the University of Southern California offers students opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration and creativity. By blending the resources of the USC School of Dramatic Arts, the USC Thornton School of Music and the USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance, the degree provides unparalleled training for the stage, screen and beyond.
